Max was born, on August 6, 1929, in rural Benton County, the son of Martin and Helen (Slaymaker) Kimm and graduated from Blairstown High School with the class of 1948. On May 22, 1950, he was united in marriage to Marceil Williams at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown.

Max was very active in his community, as a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church, and a founding member of the Blairstown Volunteer Fire Department. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time. Max and Marceil loved to winter in Arizona for over 30 years, attending Chicago Cub spring training games, and enjoying the warm weather. Max was an avid, bordering on rabid, Cub fan.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Knight of Cedar Rapids, Lynn (Mark) Gielau of Denver, IA; sons Marty Kimm, and Barry (Theresa) Kimm, all of Blairstown; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and his sister, Audrey (Ron) Yardley of Marengo.

Max was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife and best friend Marceil in 2015; and his brothers, Dean and Doug Kimm.
