Eugene Paul Kriegel, age 66, of Brooklyn, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, Iowa. A rosary will be recited beginning at 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 45 years, Christina; three children, Amy (Steve) Krakow, Ryan (Cari) Kriegel and Angela (Chad) Grimm; nine grandchildren, Zachary and Benjamin Smith, Lucas (Marissa), Jacob, Katie and Blake Krakow, Jayden and Jaxson Grimm and Mishayla Kleinmeyer; one great-granddaughter Ava Kleinmeyer; five siblings, Phyllis (Myron) McGowan, of Vinton, Susan (John) Everett, of Atkins, Phillip (Teresa) Kriegel, of Brooklyn, Joseph (Kim) Kriegel, of Brooklyn, and Diana (Ken) Swartz, of Puntagorda, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eugene was born January 5, 1955, in Brooklyn. He is the son of the late Lawrence and Cora (Raley) Kriegel. Eugene graduated from Vinton High School in 1973. He was united in marriage to Christina Mae Troxel on April 24, 1976, in Vinton. Eugene was a contractor for 23 years. He owned and operated the countertop shop, OK Topps, for 20 plus years. Eugene was a member of Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, cooking and of course being the life of the party. Eugene loved his family and friends and spending time with them all.

RF August 31, 2021, 2:14 pm I’m sorry for your families loss. I remember working for Gene at Kriegel Construction when I was in high school. It was always interesting working for him, and I still use some of what he taught me.
