Mary Thorn, 76, peacefully entered Heaven on June 11, 2020, in Bakersfield. She was born April 16, 1944, in Vinton, Iowa. Mary was the third child out of four and leaves behind her only living sister Linda Sutherland (We all love you Aunt Linda). She left behind her spouse Dennis Thorn and their four children Rebecca, Debbie, Jeff, and Connie. They had fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren with another one on the way. Mary had a passion for doing oil paintings, cross word puzzles, and gardening. Due to severe arthritis, Mary was not able to continue doing what she loved but was surrounded by her paintings.

Dennis Tappan Thorn, 82, reunited with his wife of 57 years on April 10, 2021. He was born January 13, 1939 in New York City. Dennis worked for Orange Belt Stages where he retired from driving a bus after 20+ years. He loved making homemade bread in his cast iron pan for events. In 1957, he joined the Air Force, and served four years. He always loved a good debate and had no problem speaking to strangers. He was the only person we knew to be banned from Facebook several times. What can we say, he liked a good debate.

After their children were grown, they opened their home to Foster Children. We were Blessed with a final celebration for our dad's surprise 80th Birthday, and they both were surrounded with love and joy.

Due to The COVID Guidelines, there will be a private family only funeral on May 28, 2021 at Bakersfield National Cemetery. However, for those that would like to pay their respects there will be a gathering. Please email Debbie at debrabrown2668@gmail.com and she will provide the details.
