Dorothy Jean Becker, 89, of Belle Plaine passed away on Sunday, December 20th, 2020, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care.

Dorothy was born on September 14th, 1931, in Joplin, Missouri, the daughter of Lee and Mae Thompson. Her family later moved to Iowa, where she graduated from Newhall High School.

On November 15th, 1950, Dorothy married Wilbert Becker; the couple had eight children and lived on a dairy farm near Watkins, Iowa. Dorothy cared for her family, tended a large garden, and sewed clothing, including prom and bridesmaid dresses. She volunteered as a 4-H leader and enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participate in county and state fairs. Dorothy worked in the gift shop at the Ox Yoke Inn and later at other shops in Amana. In 1995, Wilbert and Dorothy moved to Belle Plaine.

Dorothy loved playing cards with Wilbert and their card club, crocheting, reading, decorating for Christmas, helping at Youngville Cafe, and shopping. She also enjoyed movies, ice cream, and word finds. Dorothy was a spunky, honest, kind person who loved to help others.

In 2017, Dorothy moved to Belle Plaine Specialty Care where she will be remembered for her love of hugs, peppermints, and chocolate.

Dorothy is survived by six of her children, Sharon (Marvin) Schulte of Marengo, Bill (Joanne) Becker of Fairfax, Mary (Dan) Behaunek of Belle Plaine, Marlys (Duane) Siefken of Belle Plaine, Joe (Susan) Becker of Diagonal and Brian (Becky) Becker of Keota; 20 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her late sons' wives, Cindy Becker of Washburn and Sue Becker of Alburnett and her brother, Bill (Audrey) Thompson of Marion.

We are confident that Dorothy was greeted in Heaven by her parents, her beloved husband, her two oldest sons, Ed and Vic Becker, and grandsons, Nic and Zachary Becker.
