Obituaries : Patricia A. Fowlkes

Patricia A. Fowlkes, 84 years old, of rural Independence, Iowa, died on Saturday, April 25, 2020, in Urbana, Iowa, at the home of her daughter. She was born on February 8, 1936, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Philip Barron and Marjorie Adelaide (Meggison) Bisdorf. She graduated from East High School in Waterloo. On January 28, 1956, she and James Oscar Fowlkes were married in Waterloo. They farmed in Buchanan County near Independence until retiring in 1988. Mr. Fowlkes preceded her in death in 2006. She was an active member of the Indee Community Bible Church. In addition to spending time with and doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she enjoyed cooking and quilting.

Mrs. Fowlkes is survived by 2 daughters, Tina (Cliff) Mohling of Vinton, Iowa, and Mary (Michael) Evans of Urbana, Iowa, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Scott Fowlkes, 1 daughter, Lisa Fowlkes, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will hold a private graveside service. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
