Obituaries : John H. Adams

John H. Adams, age 47,  of Waterloo, formerly of Vinton, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, November 18, 2019, at the Urbana United Methodist Church in Urbana with Pastor Susan Higdon and Pastor Sue Ney officiating.  Following luncheon, interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6^th Street) in Vinton.  A memorial fund has been established.

John was born on June 19, 1972, in Vinton to Russell and Donna May (Henry) Adams.  He graduated from Vinton-Shellsburg High School with the class of 1991 and received his Associate's degree from Ellsworth Community College.  On July 12, 1997, he was united in marriage to Pamela “Pam” Kruse at Readlyn, Iowa.  Pam preceded John in death in 2017.  John worked at Dudden Farms of Dike for several years and was currently employed as an associate at Walmart in Waterloo.

John was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Waterloo and the Urbana United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed collecting toy John Deere Tractors.

He is survived by his father Russell Adams of Vinton; sister, Shelly (Wade) Hopper of Vinton; nieces and nephew, Kristin (Jake) Losenicky of Johnston, Mike Hopper of Vinton, Vicky (Garret) Birker of Cheney; great-nephew, Shaw Losenicky; great-nieces, Brynn Losenicky, and Addy Birker; his mother-in-law, Jane Kruse of Washington; sister-in-law, Margaret (Ryan) Cook and family of Keokuk; and brother-in-law, Bob (April) Kruse and family of Cascade.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Donna; wife, Pam; son, William Adams; sister, Brenda Adams; and his father-in-law, Pastor Alfred L. Kruse.
