Obituaries : Don Goodell

Don Goodell, 76, died of natural causes Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Windsor Manor in Vinton.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton.

Donald Robert Goodell was born July 24, 1943 in Vinton, the son of Harold and L. Faye Clang Goodell. He grew up in Vinton and graduated from Vinton High School. Don worked as a bricklayer for Seedorf Masonry. From 1961 to 1965 he served his country as a Navy Seabee. Don belonged to the Lutheran church in Rogers AR. He enjoyed building wooden models and was an accomplished model ship builder.

Don is survived by his daughters, Renae Goodell of Lake Woods, WA, and Susan Gay of Whitsett, NC; grandchildren, Jackson and Sarah Gay; siblings, Margaret (Jerry) Mann, Cedar Rapids, Jim (Joan) Goodell, Cedar Rapids, and Dave (Janet) Goodell, Weslaco, TX and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dora and brother, Norm.

A memorial fund has been established.
