Julie D. Davis, 64 years old, of Vinton, Iowa, formerly of Independence, passed away peacefully January 19, 2019 after a battle with cancer. Julie was born April 8, 1954, in Independence, the daughter of Leonard Joseph & Lucille May (Jones) Dlouhy. She grew up on a farm outside of Brandon, Iowa and graduated from Jesup High School in 1972. She later moved to Des Moines, Iowa, married, and had two children. Julie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing games, and laughing. Julie is survived by a son, Doug (Jasmine) Davis, and a daughter, Carrie (Troy) Thompson, both of Roswell, New Mexico, her mother, Lucille Dlouhy, Edgewood, Iowa, two brothers, Allen (Nancy) Dlouhy of Edgewood, and Jim (Tonya) Dlouhy of Vinton, two sisters, Janette (Dave) Siver of Mechanicsville, Iowa, and Connie (Roy) Brockmeyer of Oelwein, Iowa, seven grandkids, Abbigail, Gage, Allyson, Damien, Joseph, Tatiana, and Aliyah and another grandson due in April. She is also survived by many other family members & friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Dlouhy. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at the White Funeral Home in Independence with Chaplain Julie Wehner officiating. Burial will be in Mt.
