Lonnie L. Ondracek, 78, of Blairstown, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Cedar Hills Community Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial with military honors: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown, Iowa. Lonnie was born May 5, 1940, in Friend, Neb., the son of Otto and Ethel (Palmer) Ondracek. He served four years in the United States Air Force. Lonnie married Connie Black on Feb. 15, 1963, in Omaha, Neb. He was an engineer at Amana (now Whirlpool) for 43 years before retiring in 2009. In 2002, Lonnie developed a new passion, volunteering his time with the Blairstown Ambulance Service. Lonnie was a member of American Legion Post 170, Blairstown, Iowa, and Cedar Hills Community Church. Lonnie loved to fish, travel with Connie and ride the open road on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was quite the handyman with home repairs and working on vehicles. Lonnie will be missed by his friends and his family. Survivors include his wife, Connie Ondracek of Blairstown; children, Robin (John) Wahlert of Johnston, Iowa, Craig Ondracek of Cedar Rapids and Kelly Ondracek of Blairstown; five grandchildren, Ashley (Derek) Tapps, Drew Railsback, Amber (fiance Ben Baessler) Wahlert, Taeyler Ondracek (fiance Jim Toczylowski) and Noah Ondracek; one great-grandchild, Baby T; siblings, Carolyn (Alfonso) Polselli, Louis (Sandra) Ondracek, Sharilyn Hutson and Linda (Rich) Brosnan; and special friends, Sherry and Larry Plotz and members of T.G.I.F. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Ethel Ondracek; and stepmother, Beryl (Mercer) Ondracek.
