Obituaries : Lola M. McNeal

Lola M. McNeal, 89 of Vinton died Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Ed and Joan Hemphill Inpatient Unit in Cedar Rapids.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton with Rev. Sue Thomas officiating.  Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM, Monday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 East Sixth Street in Vinton.  A Memorial Fund has been established.  Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.  Online condolences may be left at www.phillipsfuneralhomes.com. Lola Mae Stammer was born September 12, 1928 in Belle Plaine to John William and Minnie Gladys (Olson) Stammer.  She was united in marriage to Harvey T. McNeal on September 20, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  Harvey preceded Lola in death on January 3, 2003. Lola loved cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Darryl (Glenna) McNeal, David (Karen) McNeal and Mary McNeal Barkdoll all of Vinton; her step children, Arlie McNeal of Shenandoah, Dean “Curly” McNeal of Garrison and Marge Lahue of Vinton; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Lola was preceded in death by her six sisters, one brother and her son-in-law, Gale Barkdoll. Phillips Funeral Homes – Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
