Marion Geiger VINTON - Marion Geiger, 79, died Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the Vinton Lutheran Home following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at First Christian Church in Vinton with Rev. Dave Neas officiating. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton. Marion was born April 17, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Grace Enfield Karr. She was a lifelong Vinton resident and attended Lincoln High School in Vinton. On January 2, 1955, Marion was united in marriage with Lynn Dean Geiger in Vinton. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2012. Marion was the head cook for the Vinton school district for 30 years, retiring in 2000. Marion was a member of First Christian Church in Vinton. She enjoyed quilting, reading, traveling, genealogy, and spending time with family, friends and her loyal companion, Buddy. Marion is survived by three sons: Jim (Joyce) Geiger of Eddyville; Mike (Lorene) Geiger of New Hartford; and Jack (Robin) Geiger of La Porte City; one daughter, Kelley (Bruce) Laing of Keller, TX; one brother, Bill (Nelda) Karr of Cedar Falls; one sister, Suzanne (Larry) Kotouc of Dysart; nine grandchildren: Amy (Jonathan) Lockett, Linda (Jeffrey) Schott, Paul Geiger, Kelley (John) Lokenvitz, Ashley (Dan) Miles, Whitney (Trevor) Roster, Shannen (Ben) Parmater, Skye Geiger and Kylie and Hannah Moreland; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother; her husband; two brothers, Charles and Don Karr; one sister, Nancy Kruse; and three nephews. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
