PHILLIPS FUNERAL HOMES -
URBANA: Evelyn Vanderpool, 80 of Vinton and formerly of Urbana died Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Vinton Lutheran Home. Visitation will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 East Sixth Street in Vinton and the funeral service will follow at 2 PM officiated by Pastor Chuck Stevens. Interment will be in the Urbana Cemetery. A Memorial Fund has been established.
Evelyn was born July 10, 1936 in Clio, Iowa to Elvie and Glendoris (Barber) Waddle. She was united in marriage to Roy Vanderpool on December 10, 1953 in Princeton, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Evelyn was employed at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids for many years and was a member of the IBEW Local 1362. She later worked in the kitchen at Center Point - Urbana Schools. She was a member of First Church of the Open Bible in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed cooking, playing Phase 10 and Dominos. She also was very talented at sewing and crafts. Gardening, traveling and doing puzzles also brought her much enjoyment.
Evelyn is survived by her five daughters, Donna (Gary) Haars. Roberta O'Shaughnessy and Irene (Mark) Dulin all of Vinton and Bonnie (Armin) Martin and Bronna (Mike) Gubbels all of Urbana; eleven grandchildren: Lonnie Vanderpool, Cheli Dammeier, Wayne Haars, Don Haars, Shannon O'Shaughnessy, Brandon O'Shaughnessy, Haily Dulin, Melissa Stieferman, Christin Martin, Rachelle Gruis and Jared Rieflin; twenty great grandchildren; one great great grandson and her sisters-in-law, Marietta Waddle, Kathy Vanderpool and Karen Overton; and her brothers-in-law, Marvin (Shirley) Vanderpool and Gary (Janet) Vanderpool.
In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her special friend Lloyd Crawley and two brothers, Robert and Herbert Waddle, her son-in-law, Patrick O'Shaughnessy, her sister-in-law, Mary Jo Waddle and her brothers-in-law, Charles Vanderpool and Clifford Overton.
