Obituaries : Gary Dale McKinley

Gary Dale McKinley, 70, died Friday, September 9, 2016 at Virginia Gay Hospital. Gary donated his body for medical research. There will be a celebration of life at Oak Grove Church, Shellsburg, from 1-2 pm Tuesday, September 13, 2016. Gary was born October 31, 1946 in Vinton, the son of Tracy and Dorothy McKinley. He served his country in the Naval Reserves. Gary worked at Cherry Burrell/International Paper for forty years. He enjoyed karoke and bowled in a Cedar Rapids League until his health declined. On June 6, 2009 he married Connie Lerch. He is survived by his wife, Connie and family; sons Thad (Ronica) and Aaron McKinley; two grandchildren, Tavish and Keeho McKinley; three brothers, Tracy, Tim and Tom McKinley; three sisters, Deana (Richard) Larson, Mary (Jeff) Meyer and Sheila McKinley. He was preceded in death by his parents.
