VINTON: Jerry L. “Big Jer” Dietrich, 63 of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, 27, 2016 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 East Sixth Street in Vinton. Visitation will be from 9AM until service time on Saturday. Interment will be in Mound Cemetery, Watkins. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Jerry Lee Dietrich was born May 18, 1953 to Richard and Shirley (Possehl) Dietrich at Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Norway High School with the class of 1971. Jerry worked as an architectural sheet metal worker.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Shirley of Vinton; daughter, Michele of Cedar Rapids; son, Marty of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brothers, Jim of Norway, Terry (Karee) of Fairfax and David of Vinton.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Art and Anna Possehl and Ed and Mary Dietrich; father, Richard; brother, Ricky and twin grandsons.
