BRANDON: Roger Duello of Brandon, passed away on Thursday, August 11 from long-term complications of lung disease. He was a hard-working man and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who had an incredible sense of humor.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM, Monday, August 15, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton with Father Ardel Barta as Officiant. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday the 14th, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E 6th St. in Vinton.
He was born on November 1, 1944 in Luzerne Iowa, the son of Paul and Berniece (Fritz) Duello.
He married Diana Lee Likens on April 24, 1965, and often told his kids and grandkids he had loved her since the second grade. They were 2 of 17 in the last graduating class of Brandon high school in 1962.
He is survived by his wife Diana of 51 years, daughters Wendy (John) Hoffman, Brenda (Kirk) Haefner, Melanie (Jim) Barz and son Dan (Robin) Duello; seven granddaughters, Mandy (Mark Bockholt), Ashley (Brian Desloover), Erica, Lauren, Jackie, Georgiana, and Lila; and one great granddaughter, Addyson.
He is also survived by his brothers Bob (Leita) Duello and Denny Duello, and sisters Diane Buckingham, LeAnn (Mark) Thieman, Mary (Ray) Panosh, and Theresa (Jim Barney) Duello, and his very special friend Larry Bell.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, parents, brother Keith Duello, nephew Paul Duello, and brother-in-law Kurt Buckingham.
Roger was a volunteer fireman for 39 years in Brandon, and served on the state board of the Iowa Firemen's Association as a vice president and secretary for many years. He also served on the eastern Iowa Critical Incident Stress Debriefing team and dedicated much of his life to serving others. He spent his career operating heavy equipment and doing farm work, and farming with his brothers brought him more joy than anything else in his life.

I am sorry to hear of Roger\'s death. I always enjoyed his jokes and smiles when he came into the Coop. You are all in my prayers.
