Vinton—Roger Ronald Evans, 74, died peacefully Saturday, July 2, 2016 at his home in Vinton under hospice care following a lengthy illness.

Honoring Roger's wishes, private graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.

Roger was born February 27, 1942 near Parnell, Iowa, the son of Thomas Roger and Nina Olive Rowe Evans. He graduated from North English High School in 1961. On August 12, 1962, he was united in marriage with Trudy Jean Primmer at the E.U.B. Church in Vinton. Roger worked at John Deere in Waterloo for 37 years, retiring in 2004. Roger enjoyed playing cards, camping and being outdoors. He and Trudy also enjoyed traveling, visiting all fifty states and many overseas destinations.

Roger is survived by his wife of 54 years, Trudy; daughter, Glynna (Ron) Kearns; son, Rick Evans and special friend, Shawna Altiz, all of Vinton; sister-in-law, Ruth Evans of North English and special family friend, Darlene Evans; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Weston and Robert Evans.

A memorial fund has been established.
