Gloria Elaine (Jones) Close

VINTON:     Gloria Elaine (Jones) Close, 75, of Vinton, died Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.  She was born August 26, 1940 in LaPorte City to Tollie Thomas and Mildred Lucille (Hilmer) Jones and married Roger Close on January 7, 1961.

     Gloria is survived by her husband, Roger of Dysart and one son, Craig (Suzanne) Close of Pensacola, FL; two grandsons, Jason (Jessica) Close of Omaha, NE and Braden Close of Pensacola, FL; two great-grandchildren, Tobias and Simon.  Gloria is also survived by her sister, Beverly (Edwin) Baldwin of La Porte City and a niece and nephew.

     Gloria attended First Baptist Church in Vinton for many years.  She loved cats and enjoyed collecting anything that had to do with cats.

     Gloria will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.  Cards of condolences may reach the family at 3404 Holt Circle, Pensacola, FL, 32526.  Any memorials will be donated to an animal shelter in Gloria’s name.
