Darlene Krug, 83, of Dysart, and formerly of La Porte City, died Friday, April 17, at Sunnycrest Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, at Dysart United Methodist Church. Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Overton Funeral Home in Dysart. Burial will be in Dysart Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Condolences may be left at www.overtonservice.com.

Darlene June Krug was born October 19, 1931 in rural Garrison, Benton County, Iowa: the daughter of Floyd and Alvina (Grau) Sturtz. She graduated from Vinton High School. Darlene was united in marriage to Ervin Krug on September 17, 1950 at the Presbyterian Church in Vinton, Iowa. She lived in Vinton while Ervin was in the Army. Darlene was a member of the Dysart United Methodist Church, officer of the Porkettes of Benton County and volunteered at Virginia Gay Hospital. She was also a part-time cook at Geneseo School, enjoyed working on the farm with her husband, Ervin and spending time at their winter home in Texas and camping. Darlene was very special and loved her family dearly and she was everyone’s “favorite aunt”.

Darlene passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Sunnycrest Nursing Center at the age of 83. She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers: Melvin and Malin Sturtz; 3 sisters: Nadine Staggs, Elieen Koehn and Irene Lundahl and a son-in-law Bill Angel. Darlene is survived by her husband Ervin of La Porte City; 2 sons: Steven (Annette) Krug of Weldon, Iowa and Dan (Colleen) Krug of La Porte City, Iowa; 2 daughters: Becky Bonnette of Grundy Center, Iowa and Jeanie (Scott) Sampson of Orlando, Florida; 8 grandchildren: Amy, Megan, Scott, Wyatt, Anna, Macy, Laura Rae and Samantha; 5 great-grandchildren: Avery, Savannah, Addison, Jaxon and Willow; a brother Darrell (Joan) Sturtz of Marion, Iowa and a sister Jan (Leo) Brown of Bull Head City, Arizona.
