VINTON – Evelene Elizabeth Neuendorf, 91, died peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday, October 23, 2014, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Vinton. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 27, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Evelene was born September 28, 1923, in Houston, Missouri, the daughter of Earl and Della Collins Richards.
On December 23, 1942, Evelene was united in marriage with Paul Neuendorf in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1998.
Evelene worked at Collins Radio, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vinton. She was also a member of the Vinton American Legion Auxiliary; the Virginia Gay Hospital Auxiliary; the Lutheran Home Auxiliary; the Cedar Rapids VFW Auxiliary; Quilting Club and Garden Club.
Evelene is survived by one son, Kevin (April) Neuendorf of Hiawatha; one daughter, Pamela (Michael) Covington of Vinton; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons: Kenneth and Keith Neuendorf; and one brother, Gaylord Richards.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.

DL February 15, 2015, 11:59 am I have just seen this Pam. I am so sorry. She was my mom for lots of years. I so wish I would of known as I would of been there. It breaks my heart thinking of her gone but oh the memories I have how wonderful. She was loved by many.
