Obituaries : Gerald 'Rassy' Rasmussen

Gerald "Rassy" Rasmussen, 76, of Mesa, Az., passed away Oct. 15, 2014.

Born on May 23, 1938, to Earl and Nadine Rasmussen in Vinton, Ia., he lived in Iowa until 1976 when his wife, Marcia, and he moved to Arizona.

He farmed, worked for Martin Marietta Quarry in Montour, Iowa, and later became self-employed as a handyman. he was a long time member of the fraternal Order of the Eagles. He loved fishing, gardening, camping and could grill one mean steak.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Marcia, two daughters, Juli Stanford of Montezuma, Iowa, and Rhonda (Jerry) Schenk of Tama, Iowa; two stepchildren, Heather Zumbach of Delware, Iowa, and Shane Rasmussen of Little rock , Ark.; one grandson, Adam (Cheri) Foreman, one great granddaughter, Shawna Foreman, Newton, Iowa; and one sister, Norma, of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Nada Ledvina, his parents and many friends.
