Kenneth "Kenny" Leaven

NEWHALL:     Kenneth "Kenny" Leaven, 76, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following an extended illness.

     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, April 7, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall with Rev. Steven Rempfer officiating.  Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery near Newhall.  Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 pm Sunday at the church in Newhall.  A memorial fund has been established.

     Kenneth John Leaven was born July 21, 1937 at Walker, Iowa to Lawrence and Rozena (Zieser) Leaven

     On November 26, 1989 he was united in marriage to Janice "Jan" Louise Maas at Norway, Iowa.  Kenny and Jan retired and moved to Moravia, Iowa where they enjoyed fishing and boating for several years.  Kenny also enjoyed many good friendships at the Landing in Moravia.

     Prior to his retirement he owned and operated "Kenny's Transfer and Storage".  In his leisure he enjoyed deer hunting, mowing his lawn and spending time with family and friends.

     He is survived by his children, Chris (Mark) Lorber of Waukee, Kevin (Linda) Leaven of Atkins, Kayla (Chris) Christensen of Atkins, Lisa (Daryl) Wiesender of Cedar Rapids, Kandi (Carlos) Perez of Minneapolis, MN and Chris (Theresa) Seboldt of Ladora; fourteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers; and three sisters.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jan; his son, Kerry; and his stepson, Jason Seboldt.
