Mary Jane Buhr

Mary Jane Buhr, 77, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 4, 2024, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Garrison, with Pastor Adam Baumann officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 3, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton, and one hour prior to service at the church on Monday.

Thomas William Wilkinson

Thomas William Wilkinson , 81, of Atkins, died Friday, February 16, 2024, while in Pharr, Texas, passing away at McAllen Medial Center. Elizondo Mortuary & Cremation Service of Mission, Texas is in charge of arrangements.Tom's remains were cremated at his request. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date with Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids.

Dorothy Nation

Dorothy Nation, 90, of La Porte City, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, February 22, 2024.Dorothy Nation was born on July 2, 1933, in Grainfield, Kansas and was raised on a farm near Hoxie, Kansas. She was the youngest of eight children, seven girls and one boy, born to Clarence and Ruth Vickers.Her grade school years were spent in a one room country schoolhouse in Sheridan County, Kansas.

LaVonne Marlys Latham

LaVonne Marlys Latham of Erie, Illinois, passed away in hospice on, February 12, 2024, after a brief illness, in the company of her stepsons and spouses, and her nieces and nephew. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Erie United Methodist Church, followed by interment with her late husband, Robert Latham, a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, at the Rock Island National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal.

Donald “Don” Weatherwax, II

Donald “Don” Weatherwax, II of Belle Plaine, escaped this mortal realm early Thursday morning, ending his battle with Multiple Sclerosis on his own terms. He was 66 years old and 38 years sober. Born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Don made many life-long friends while attending Arthur, Franklin, and Washington schools. His hobbies and interests were as varied as the Iowa weather, which is fortunate as he always preferred to be doing something outdoors.

Robert J. “Bob” Frimml

Robert J. "Bob" Frimml, 87, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Newhall, with Rev. Jacob Dunne as Celebrant. Interment with graveside military rites, will be held at St. John Cemetery in Newhall.

Ronald "Ron" Dew

Ronald "Ron" Dew, 78, of rural La Porte City, died Saturday, February 17, 2024 at his home in the care of his family and Cedar Valley Hospice. He was born July 15, 1945, in Grundy Center, Iowa. Ronald was the son of LeRoy and Nadine (Norris) Dew. He graduated from Hudson High School and Served in the Army Reserves. Ronald married Shirley Ann Knipp in 1970, they were later divorced.

Terry Cranston

Terry Cranston, 84, passed away on February 18, 2024, at Kansas City Hospice House after a long illness. Terry was born in Vinton, Iowa on March 27, 1939, to Robert and Irene Cranston of Van Horne, Iowa. He was a big brother to Tom and Holly, and he cherished that role. When he was in the fifth grade the family moved to Atkins, Iowa. Terry missed Van Horne and always considered it his home.

Lillian Winslow

Lillian Winslow, age 96, went home to be with her Lord on February 19, 2024.Lillian was born on March 16, 1927, to Burdette and Jennie Koch Beck on the family farm north of Belle Plaine, Iowa. She was the oldest of 6 children. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1945 and attended Iowa State College in Ames for 2 years.On April 25, 1948, Lillian was united in marriage to Louis Winslow in the Christ United Methodist Church, Belle Plaine.

Caleb Nicholas Enos

Caleb Nicholas Enos, 21, of Waterloo, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024, at First Christian Church, Vinton, with Brad Shockley officiating.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
