The Vinton Lions Club held their regular Wednesday meeting at the Pizza Ranch. There were 47 members and one guest present. Member Dr. Alan Woodhouse introduced his guest, Dr. Sara Stuefen, D.D.S. P.C., a recent graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. Social Chairman Pat Lyons announced that he will be working on a package deal with the Old Creamery Theater Company for a member and spouse excursion to watch a performance in August. Member Lyons will give a report to the membership at next week’s meeting.
President Don Eells presided over the initiation of 11 new members to the club. New additions to the Vinton Lions Club are George Bauer, Mary Jo Hainstock, Nathan Hesson, Kurt Karr, Sara Larkin, John Leonard, Rob Levis, Nick Montgomery, Kirk Page, Steve Skram, and Dan Van Steenhuyse.
After the new member initiation, members Mike Elwick and Ron Baldwin swore in the 2010-2011 officers. The new officers are President Julie Zimmer, 1st Vice President Jeff Peterson, 2nd Vice President Pat Lyons, 3rd Vice President Emily Wilson, Secretary/Treasurer Dick Kerdus, Tail Twister Frank Van Steenhuyse, Lion Tamer Rae Dugan, and Board of Directors Steve Hite, Chuck Peterson, Gail Zea, and Kim Roberts.
The Vinton Lions Club is one of the largest and most active service organizations in the community. Meetings are held weekly at the Pizza Ranch at noon each Wednesday.
