On Tuesday May 14, 2013, the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter had nine girls go to Hawkeye Community College to participate in District Floriculture. At Hawkeye, the girls were scored in the following areas: General Knowledge, Plant Identification, Floral Design, Floriculture Production, Pesticide Use and Application, and Problem Solving. Overall it was a good and fun experience, and helped us continue to prepare to send four girls to State Floriculture on June 11, 2013 at Kirkwood Community College. Our girls placed in the following areas:
8th Individual--Sydney Walker
5th Individual--Melody Sedlecek
3rd Individual--Emily Cashman
6th Place Team--Sadie Novotny, Melody Sedlecek, Meranda Sanders
5th Place Team--Emily Cashman, Tiffany Auen, Stephanie Auen
4th Place Team--Sydney Walker, Jessica Alderson, Katie Isbell
