News : Vinton residents invited to welcome 4 Honor Flight participants at CR airport

Four Vinton World War II Veterans -- Vince Blank, Gene Davis, Henry Van Eschen and Virgil Greenwood -- will be leaving early Tuesday morning for the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Several other Benton County veterans will participate in the day-long trip to the World War II Memorial.

Area veterans groups plan a welcome home reception for the four when their plane returns to Cedar Rapids at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday night at the Cedar Rapids airport.

The public is invited. Roger Uthoff of the Post 57 American Legion said the Patriot Guard, a bagpipe players and others plan to welcome home the veterans.

Those who want to honor the veterans should arrive at the airport before 10 p.m., Uthoff said.
