As far back as just about anyone in Vinton can remember, there has been a Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt every year for the past half-century or longer. In all kinds of March or April weather, children have lined up to race for the eggs at Riverside Park.

That tradition continued on Saturday at the park, where Kiwanis members filled and spread out 3,000 eggs. The weather was cool and windy, and light rain fell before the hunt began. But hundreds braved the weather for the annual event.
