For the second time in two months, Mike Timmermans recited the Oath of Office as a member of the Vinton-Shellsburg School Board.
But it is very likely he will have to recite it again this year.
Timmermans was appointed to fill a vacancy in December, and recited the Oath of Office then. He was elected to fill that vacancy this month because of a state law that requires such vacancies to be placed on school ballots. And because the vacancy which he is filling expires in September, Timmermans would have to seek re-election again in September -- and again recite the oath if he is re-elected.
The only candidate on the ballot this month, Timmermans, the former VSMS principal, received more than 95 percent of the votes.
Fellow board members joked with him during Monday's meeitng about the frequency with which he recites the oath, and how quickly he will be able to recite it from memory.
