A single vehicle accident was reported to the Benton County Sheriff's Office on Monday June 7, 2010 at approximately 4:23 P.M. on 62 St. about a one half mile east of 32nd Ave, 2 miles north of Shellsburg Iowa.

A Ford Explorer was traveling west bound when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went into the south ditch rolling onto and breaking a utility pole.

Five  local area juveniles  were in the vehicle; one subject was transported by lifeguard air ambulance to St Luke's Hospital, and the other 4 juveniles were transported by Center Point and Urbana Ambulance services with non-life threatening injuries to St. Luke's.

Responding units were: Shellsburg fire and first responders, Center Point Ambulance, Urbana Ambulance, North Benton Ambulance, Lifeguard Air Ambulance, Iowa State Patrol, and Benton County Sheriff. This accident is currently under investigation by Benton County Sheriff's Office.
