Vinton Police have charged Michael Jay Fedderson, 45, of West Union with Burglary 2nd Degree and Theft 4th Degree in connection with a bold daytime burglary of the office area of the Dollar General Store, 914 W 4th Street, Vinton on February 22, 2010.

Fedderson was identified through surveillance video, and the assistance and cooperative efforts of law enforcement agencies in the Iowa Law Enforcement Intelligence Network (LEIN) Region 3 Fusion Center.

Vinton Police accuse Fedderson of entering the occupied structure during normal business hours with the intent to commit a theft.  After entering the store, Vinton Police accuse Fedderson of forcing entry into the manager's office, rummaging through the desk, and ultimately taking approximately $250 in cash from an employee's purse.

If convicted, Fedderson faces up to 10 years in prison, a $10,000 fine, of both in connection with this incident.

Vinton Police issued warrants of arrest for Fedderson, and he was taken into custody by law enforcement officers in Fayette County.

A Criminal Charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
