Dear Friends,

After ten years of serving families in Vinton and the surrounding communities, it is with mixed emotions that I write this letter. Due to the recent retirement of my husband, Loel, and I as pastors of Harvest Christian Fellowship, the church council has prayerfully reached the difficult decision to close the Harvest House Ministry Center (HHMC). The Harvest House and the Ministry Center were both located in the church’s parsonage, which is now needed for the new pastor.

Over the years the ministry center has served well over 1,200 families by providing food, clothing and furniture at no cost. Since January 2008 the Harvest House has provided temporary shelter for nearly 50 women and their 30 children. It has been an awesome experience to see the Lord provide what was needed each step of the way.

The HHMC Board of Directors and volunteers, along with the church council and congregation of Harvest Christian Fellowship want to thank you for your support. This ministry could not have been possible without your prayers, countless volunteer hours and donations — both tangible and financial. Numerous times we have been overwhelmed by your generosity.

Since many of you have asked, I would like to take this opportunity to update you on the future ministry plans for Loel and myself. We are staying in Vinton and forming a new non-profit outreach called Abundant Life Ministries (ALMs). Through ALMs we will distribute to disadvantaged families basic furniture and household items, as they are donated. Also, because the need is so great, please join us in prayer as to how we may continue to assist women and their children with housing. Again let me state our appreciation for partnering with Harvest over the years to fulfill the mission of “Serving Jesus Christ by Meeting Needs” in our area. May God continue to bless you more than you can imagine.
