News : VPRD Golf Tourney: Martins edge Martins for title

Matt, Mike, John and Diane Martin won the top honors at the VPRD Golf Tourney.

The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department held its annual Two Person Best Shot this past weekend at the Vinton Country Club.  60 golfers took part in the event with some great weather throughout the day.  Once again we had a Martin duo win the event.  The team of Matt & Mike Martin shot a 62 for the eighteen holes which is a great score for a two person event.  The Martin brothers were pushed hard by their own brother John and his wife Diane who ended up being one shot back.  If it wasn’t for a chip in on the final hole by Mike & Matt, John and Diane would have been the champions.

John and Diane Martin were crowned the winners of the Coed Title at our tournament with a super round of 63.  All golfers were treated with some great prizes thanks to the unbelievable support by local and area businesses.  Special thanks to the Vinton Country Club staff and all of the golfers who took part in the event.

Once again the V/S Girls Golf Team had their Dr. Pepper Golf Hole on the Par 3 Hole 5.  Proceeds from the day go to help the V/S Girls Golf Team program for instruction, equipment and miscellaneous expenses throughout the season.  Listed below are the top four place winners for each flight.  For a complete listing of the results go to vprdzone.com.
