Songs from the 1970s and sculptures made from plastic food wrap were among the highlights of the annual Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School Fine Arts Night Thursday, May 20.
The concerts took place in the VSMS gym, while the art show was held in the lunch room. Choirs from grades 6-8 performed in several groups, along with a few solo performances.
The concert included songs from the students' parents' generation, including "Carry on, my wayward son," "Don't stop believin'" and "We are the world."
The next music event for VSMS students is the middle school portion of Sing Into Summer, scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, at the VSHS auditorium.
