News : Summer Reading Prgram kids meet Blank Park Zoo animals

Children saw many animals from Blank Park Zoo Tuesday at the library.

Children took turns petting a rat during the Blank Park Zoo visit at the library on Wednesday.

If they gave you a choice of three animals you could touch, would you choose an alligator, a turtle or a rat?

The children in the Summer Reading Program at the Vinton Public Library chose the rat. (Many of them had touched the alligator last summer.)

The hour-long presentation included a red-tailed hawk, a large millipede, the rat, alligator and a turtle. The children learned facts about these animals and how they have adapted to their environment.
