One of the buildings that was most heavily-damaged during the July 11, 2011, storm is now being demolished.

The west half of the Hummel Apartments building complex at the corner of Fifth Street and Second Avenue is being removed this week by a Cedar Rapids company. The backhoe driver began demolishing the building Monday morning.
