I asked all V-S staff members to complete a one-item survey.

The item said, “Share one success story that you were a part of from this year.  It may be something about a student’s success, a group of students’ success, your level teaching team’s success, how many meals you helped prepare etc.  It does not have to be an essay – just a quick summary!”

Below are some of those responses:

Elementary Teacher – Our data team targeted the most at-risk kids and by the end of the year, ALL of our students met the goal!

Elementary Teacher – I received a handwritten thank you from a parent for helping their child learn long division.

HS Teacher – There is a special education student who struggled the first two trimesters and walked around school slumped and head hung low.  This trimester he has really tried and is now passing all classes.  Now he says, “Hi” in the hallway, and walks with a little more confidence.  We have a “contract” with each other that he signed and has been working really hard to accomplish the goals he set, which was a 2.0 for the trimester.  I think he is going to achieve this.

HS Teacher – The success that I have had this year is with my Fusion Reading class that I taught.  All of the students who participated in the class raised their reading level scores.  They also raised their vocabulary knowledge and their willingness to read.

MS Teacher – This year’s eighth graders are well prepared for high school due to their positive outlook, hard work ethic, sense of humor, and team mentality.

MS Teacher – PBIS at the MS has been very effective in improving the climate in the building and I’m so glad to have been a part of it!  From the first day we introduced hallway behaviors, we saw a change, and it has permeated other areas in a very lasting way.  I am just so proud of the way our students have embraced it and made it a way of life at school!

MS – I have an autistic student who, in previous years, did not interact with people a lot.  This year was my second year to have the privilege to work with him and it has been the best year I’ve had since I started working in the district five years ago.  This student will have conversations with anyone, joke, and will let others touch him (appropriately) and touch others (appropriately)!  Last year he did a lot of just sitting in class.  This year he participates in class and his classmates, the whole grade, help him where he needs it and LOVE to work with him!  I just want everyone to know how proud I am of my student and the whole class and what a wonderful year we had!  I can’t wait until next year!

Food Service – Successfully getting the salad bar up and running for 475 students.

Elementary – Our new math series helped students have a better number sense and challenged all levels of students.
