The members of the Vinton-Shellsburg Class of 2012 officially ended their school careers on Sunday, as 139 received diplomas during the commencement ceremony.
Graduate Jake Stodola shared some of his favorite movie quotes in the student address, while teacher Kyle Engdahl urged the graduates to learn when to make their own paths, as well as when to realize that others had created paths worth following.
The VSHS Chamber Choir sang "MLK" and "Every Time I Feel the Spirit." Principal Matt Kingsbury concluded his first full year at VSHS by announcing the honors achieved by some of the graduates. School Board President Sue Gates presented the diplomas to the graduates.
