Every year, Kirkwood Community College presents a scholarship to a deserving 8th grade student. That scholarship offer is a full tuition scholarship if that student decides to enroll at Kirkwood upon graduation from high school.

This year's Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School 8th grade Kirkwood Scholarship winner is Jessica Alderson. 

Jessica's family members were in attendance to congratulate her . Jessica's mom, along with her sisters, Cassie and Steffanie, joined her for the presentation. Also pictured are  Kasey Tumulty and Pat Gardner from Kirkwood. Steffanie Alderson won the very first VSMS Kirkwood scholarship.
