On Saturday, May 5, 2012, members and leaders of the 76 Progressives 4-H Club in Washington County came to the Benton County Fairgrounds in Vinton to help plant trees that were purchased with a $325 Pioneer Grant from the Iowa State 4-H Foundation that the 76 Progressives 4-H Club received to help replace trees that were damaged/lost in the July 2011 wind storm.
In total, five trees, 3 oak and 2 maple, were planted on the fairgrounds. Two trees were planted east of the horse arena, one tree was planted on the east side of the cattle/horse wash rack area by the barns, and two trees were planted on the south side of the swine/sheep/goat wash rack area.
