Center Point Friends of the Library had an Easter Bookfair for fun and profit at Barnes & Noble in Cedar Rapids March 31. B&N donates a portion of the day’s sales to local nonprofits that hold bookfairs at the store. CP Friends had their first B&N Boofair last December.
This one featured the Easter Bunny, thanks to the very Friendly generosity of the Center Point Lions Club.
Also big stars of the Easter Bookfair were Courtney Jones and her real live 4-H project bunnies, which she and her mother Kelly Jones, of Center Point, brought in. Courtney is a member of the Washington Busy Beavers 4-H Club.
The Friends working—and playing—at the Bookfair were: Dorothea Wood, Roberta Gilchrist, Jess Toomsen, Connie Robinson, Deb Maue and daughter, and Sharon Hannen.
The next fundraising fun for Friends is the annual Spring Gala, Sunday April 15 at 6:30 at the Library. Adult/child poetry writing teams will read their work, the “John for Meyer” ensemble will play jazz, and there will be fancy appetizers and desserts. Tickets are $10/individual or $15/family. (Please specify how many.) Checks may be made to Friends of the Center Point Library and dropped at the Friends box at the Library or mailed to Friends care of Roberta Gilchrist, 4089 Grubbs Creek Road, Center Point, IA 52213.
