Vinton area residents have become accustomed to seeing bald eagles overhead throughout the winter months.
Nearly a dozen were gathered at a pond on 24th Avenue Drive north of Minne Estema Park about 7 miles north of Vinton on Friday morning.
Wildlife experts say there are hundreds of nesting pairs who make Iowa their home, and thousands who come during each winter.
