DES MOINES – A Shellsburg man won a top prize of $25,000 playing the lottery’s “Lucky Jar Bingo” instant-scratch game.

Kevin Powrie claimed his prize Friday at the Iowa Lottery’s regional office in Cedar Rapids. He purchased his winning ticket at Shellsburg Quick Stop, 101 Main St. in Shellsburg.

Lucky Jar Bingo is a $2 scratch game. Players try to match any complete horizontal, vertical or diagonal line, four corners, or an “X” pattern on one of the four Bingo cards to win the corresponding prize in the legend beside that card. Scratch the "lucky jar." If the "lucky number" appears on any of the Cards 1 through 4, win the prize shown. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 3.51.

Twenty-three prizes of $25,000 are still up for grabs in Lucky Jar Bingo, as well as 51 prizes of $2,500, 98 prizes of $500 and more than 900 prizes of $250 and $150.

Players can enter eligible non-winning scratch tickets online to earn “Points For Prizes™” points. The point value will be revealed to the player on the website upon successful submission of each eligible valid ticket. There is a limit of 30 ticket entries per day. To participate in Points For Prizes™, a player must register for a free account at ialottery.com. Registration is a one-time process. Merchandise that can be ordered by using points will be listed on the website in the Points For Prizes™ online store. Players can choose from items in categories such as apparel, automotive, jewelry, sporting, tools and more.
