Castle, renamed Niko, is doing great! He is still being fed every 60 - 90 minutes. He is missing his bottom teeth so he is getting dog kibble soaked in warm water. His system does not tolerate can food so well so he gets very little. He has gained just over 10 lbs as of a week ago. His favorite treats are Fruitables from Petco. He is very bonded with the lady of the house ("mom") and will go anywhere she goes. He exhibits typical Mastiff behavior. He has a particular bark if someone other than family is in the house as if he is objecting to the intrusion. He is doing well with visitors if introduced slowly. He does not trust men. He will only get in the car with mom. He is going on short walks on leash daily. He doesn't care for lots of traffic and noise. He has the strength now to put the brakes on and let the walker know when it's time to turn around and head for home. In his new home he has access to a large fenced in yard that he loves to explore. He also stands under the evergreen trees and moves back and forth to scratch his back. Niko has a large fluffy dog bed that he spent the first 3 weeks sleeping on in the family room. For some reason he no longer cares for the bed and will instead go into his kennel to rest and hang out. He has adjusted well to his new home and family. As strange as it sounds, "he's a very lucky boy."
