Local law enforcement today was informed of the following policy changes by the Iowa Department of Transportation shop in Urbana regarding their policies for overnight snow removal on the primary highways in and out of Vinton.

 

     Motorists traveling through Benton County should be aware of these new winter snow removal policies so they may safely plan accordingly:

 

     Highway 218, from Highway 30 thru Vinton and to LaPorte City will not be cleared or maintained between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. during snowfall events.

 

     Highway 150 from Vinton to Independence will not be cleared between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. during snowfall events.

 

    IDOT officials indicate that Highway 30 and I-380 in Benton County will be cleared around the clock during snowfall events.
