All of this and more kept the attendees of the 2010 Vinton-Shellsburg Prom entertained all night during the traditional event. Dozens of adults volunteered for the event, decorating, serving food, playing music and operating the activities. The Post Prom Committee had spent months preparing and fund-raising for the event. A total of 177 students signed up as they entered the VSHS cafeteria after prom.

This year's event was a bit subdued due to an injury to one of the students. Two males were participating in the sumo wrestling favorite, wearing those huge padded suits and helmets. One of them fell on the floor, missing the mat and hit his head, knocking him out briefly. He was taken by ambulance to Virginia Gay Hospital for observation. The activities resumed, minus the sumo wrestling.
