News : Stark to Join Vinton City Council; 4th Ward to be filled via write-in votes

With no contested races on the Vinton city ballots, the changes to the City Council were mostly known before the election. Mayor John Watson and Council member Ron Elwick (2nd Ward) ran unopposed. At-large council member Don Burkey did not seek re-election; Tami Stark ran unopposed for his seat.

In Vinton's 4th Ward, Lisa Vermedahl did not seek re-election. No candidates filed papers for that seat. Benton County election workers will tally the write-in results, and contact the person with the most write-in votes to see if they are interested in serving on the council. A total of 17 write-in votes were cast in the 4th Ward.
