The Vinton-Shellsburg High School Marching Band concluded their marching season last Saturday at the 2011 Waukee Marching Band Invitational. It was the band's first time to compete in this event.

The band placed 5th in class 3A. This event is unique in that it recognizes all of the participating band seniors in the awards ceremony following all of the many marching band performances.

Former VSHS principal, Kirk Johnson, was in attendance, and personally congratulated and awarded the Vinton-Shellsburg Marching Band Seniors and Drum Majors with their packet of judges comments and trophy in front of a capacity crowd.

Congratulations and thank you to all of the band parents, community members, and school staff/administration that helped make this season such a successful season!
