As part of National Nurses Week, Virginia Gay Hospital & Clinics is proud to recognize the compassionate work provided by all the VGH nursing professionals who care for friends, neighbors, and families across the Vinton community every day.

Celebrated annually from May 6–12, Nurses Week highlights the essential role nurses play in keeping communities healthy. At Virginia Gay Hospital, our nursing staff is deeply rooted in a commitment to the overall well-being of the community.

“In a community like Vinton, healthcare is about connection and commitment to the people we serve,” said Tina Eden, CEO “Our nurses play a vital role in strengthening the health of our community by providing compassionate, high-quality care and building trust with every patient interaction.”

This year, Virginia Gay Hospital is proud to recognize two nurses whose impact reflects the very best of community-centered care:

“Our nurses are more than healthcare providers, they are neighbors, volunteers, and community members who are invested in the well-being of this area,” said Robin Martin, Foundation Director “We are proud to celebrate them and the difference they make every single day.”

Virginia Gay Hospital & Clinics extends its sincere appreciation to all nurses whose dedication continues to strengthen the health and spirit of the Vinton community.

Tina Eden has been honored for her dedication to advancing patient care both at the bedside and in leadership. This past year, Tina stepped into the role of CEO of Virginia Gay Hospital, where she is working to elevate healthcare services and strengthen access to quality care across the community. While her role has shifted into the administrative setting, Tina continues to value and enjoy the patient care aspect of nursing, bringing that perspective into her leadership each day. Her ability to connect clinical experience with strategic vision reflects the strong sense of community that defines Virginia Gay Hospital.

Brandi Bressen has also been recognized for her outstanding contributions to nursing care. Brandi’s positive attitude, strong clinical skills, and team-first approach make her a trusted caregiver and colleague. Her willingness to step in wherever needed and her commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate care reflects a deep dedication to supporting the health and well-being of the entire community.

Both nurses were recently honored through the Great Iowa Nurses program, a prestigious statewide recognition that celebrates nurses for their leadership, compassion, and commitment to advancing healthcare in their communities. Their selection reflects not only their clinical excellence, but also the meaningful relationships they build with patients and families throughout the region.

In addition, Virginia Gay Hospital will announce its annual DAISY Award honoree on May 8, recognizing a nurse who exemplifies extraordinary compassion and clinical excellence. The DAISY Award is an international program that honors the meaningful difference nurses make in the lives of patients and families.

Virginia Gay Hospital has long been a cornerstone of healthcare in Benton County, and its nursing team plays a vital role in that legacy, providing high-quality care close to home.
