Downtown Vinton this past Saturday night, was filled with around 300 calssic cars that rolled in for the 40th annual Car Cruise. Engines rumbled, paint jobs gleamed, and more than a few folks were caught drooling over chrome bumpers that looked polished enough to double as bathroom mirrors.

The milestone event drew one of the biggest crowds yet, with everything from classic hot rods that seemed to have leapt straight out of the 1950s to custom rides that looked like they’d just landed from another galaxy. Owners proudly popped hoods, swapped stories, and assured anyone who asked that yes, their car “still runs like a dream.”

After 40 years, the Vinton Car Cruise has become less of an event and more of a tradition — part horsepower, part history, and a whole lot of hometown pride.
