Collins & Evans Call for Termination of University Employees Celebrating Kirk's Murder

Today, Rep. Taylor Collins (R) of Mediapolis, IA, Chair of the House Committee on Higher Education, and Senator Lynn Evans, (R) of Aurelia, Iowa Chair of the Senate Committee on Education, are calling for the immediate termination of university employees who celebrated the murder of a fellow American, Charlie Kirk, ahead of the Board of Regents meeting this week.

The lawmakers write, “College campuses were once the epicenter of civil debate and respectful discourse, the very pillar of Charlie Kirk’s ethos. Now, we see through these social media posts, just how far higher education has strayed from its original mission, and how desperately we need to course correct.”

“Boilerplate press releases will not solve the culture problem on our college campuses - only decisive action with a clear red line. Today, we are calling for any university employees who celebrated the death of their fellow American to be terminated immediately,” the letter continues. “The trust of Iowa’s institutions of higher education is at stake, and it is upon you specifically to ensure this trust is not further deteriorated.”
