Since we are in the heart of garage sale season and have city-wide garage sales coming up, it is probably a good idea to review the rules on garage sale signs. Signs are allowed in the right-of-way/parking, but need to be removed when the sale is over. Also, please think about placement so the signs do not block the view of oncoming traffic on intersecting streets.

No signs can be placed on street sign posts or utility poles. Keeping garage sale signs off street signs ensure the safety of those using the streets by not covering up or distracting drivers from important messages, such as when to stop or what speed to maintain. Keeping garage sale signs off utility poles ensure the safety of utility crews since often nails or staples are left behind when the signs are removed. Any signs illegally placed can be confiscated.

Thank you for your assistance by following these simple sign rules. Further information can be obtained from Vinton City Hall at 472-4707.

AM July 13, 2013, 5:04 pm we were just talking about this today...It continues to happen and the signs never come down..Is anyone REALLY paying attention enough to \"confiscate\" these signs and/or fine these people? Can\'t be too hard to find them since their address is posted ON THE SIGNS.
